What’s behind the theme for Baby Communication Week 2024?

Understanding Babies ♥ Affirming Parents ♥ Nurturing Relationships

It is a fundamental fact that healthy, happy parent-infant relationships are the key context in which babies grow – healthily and happily. As professionals working with newborn babies and their families we therefore need to be asking: What is the most impactful way that we can play our part in nurturing these important early relationships?

This Baby Communication Week our aim is to answer that question with an approach that recognises the baby as an active player in relationships. The baby who brings with it to the world many social skills and an inextinguishable desire to bond with its caregivers.

At the heart of the week will be 5 key messages we believe need to reach every new parent. These are messages that will:

❤︎ grow parents’ understanding of their newborn’s communication and affirm them in their caregiving.

❤︎ benefit babies in receiving responsive care and interaction from parents who feel both calm and informed.

❤︎ result in happy, healthy and nurtured parent-baby relationships.

We have produced 5 brand new posters which are FREE to download, print and pin up. Each poster includes 1 of 5 informative affirmations we believe EVERY new parents needs to hear. We’re delighted to have worked with Helenetheillustrator to commission a set of new illustrations for these posters.

A special edition of our Information & Inspiration webinar series is back for Baby Communication Week 2024!

We know that healthy, happy parent-infant relationships are the key context in which babies develop and thrive. But as practitioners working with these young infants and their families perhaps we have questions such as:
