Brazelton Champions and Champions Network
We are very excited to launch our Champions initiative! The role of ‘Brazelton Champion’ gives special recognition to individuals advocating the Brazelton approach in their area, profession or organisation. We are delighted that 37 individuals from all 4 countries in the UK make up our first intake of Champions.
The opportunity to send in your expression of interest for being a champion has now closed. Please look out for openings again in the future.
Scroll DownWhat is a Brazelton champion?
- All our champions are certified Newborn Behavioural Observations (NBO) practitioners. Some may also be certified in the NBAS, though this is not essential.
- They have great enthusiasm using and advocating for the Brazelton approach in their role with families.
- They live and work within the United Kingdom.
- They are linked in with the Brazelton Centre UK and with our other champions across the UK, all working to improve infant mental health, and to enrich the relationship between parent and baby through the NBO.

What do our champions bring to the role?
- Being an enthusiastic advocate for the NBO in their organisation and/or local area.
- Providing a link between the Brazelton Centre UK and local community and services for purposes such as:
> Improving ways to gather feedback
> Sharing and disseminating information about materials, resources, services, and opportunities
> Being a point of contact and support for new Brazelton trainees within their organisation/area, signposting to support where needed, and supporting trainees towards achieving certification
** As this is a new initiative our first cohort of champions will also have the opportunity to work with the Brazelton Centre UK to develop and shape the champion role for the future! **

Will their be future opportunities to become a Brazelton Champion?
In the autumn of 2024 we received expressions of interest for our very first intake of Brazelton Champions. After going through these a team at the Brazelton Centre – consisting of staff, trainers, trustees and our director – selected a group of individuals to become Champions. We will be working with these champions during 2025 to shape the champion role for the future.
With this in mind, we anticipate expanding the Champions team with further intakes in the coming years.
As a reminder all Champions need to:
- be certified in the Newborn Behavioural Observations,
- have great enthusiasm using and advocating for the Brazelton approach in their role with families.
- be living and working within the United Kingdom.
